Downton Abbey is by far one of the best BBC shows next to Doctor Who I have ever started watching, the only thing I do not like about Downton Abbey is it's a soap opera which means you really just can't start watching it in season 3 no in order to understand the story you need to start watching from season 1 episode 1

I am so PO'd right now! Why in the heck did Matthew have to die. Couldn't he be replaced with another actor? Darn you BBC :/

I agree with djudon. I love the show and look forward to Season 4 which I understand will NOT include any more deaths of major characters. I thought the car accident at the end of Season 3 that killed Mathew was stupid and over-the-top. Also, I don't think that a known gay butler would have been allowed to continue working at Downton Abbey. The script seems to have been written for a more current "politically correct" time than for the early 1920's when homosexuals were deemed criminals.

Downton is a good show, but it's a bad sign when two main characters DIE in the same season. It starting to nosedive into becoming like McLeod's Daughters (Aussie tv show). After the third season, the storylines were horrible and death was a constant character.
