@brd32 ... Most pilot seasons, for most shows actually, are usually* stacked short. Very rarely do shows get picked up for a full season right off the bat. There's a LOT of red tape that the producers have to get through from the green light to the small screen; normally it's the network's way of testing the waters.
As far as The Walking Dead is concerned: by the end of S01 it became the highest rated drama in the history of CABLE...so needless to say, it was a given from that point forward. ✎☑

I love this show, but season three left me not wanting more. Wish they would have had more of a cliff hanger maybe. Still a great show though.

I agree with driner777, when the show first started out nobody realized it would be so successful

yah your not missing any eps, I always assumed the reason season 1 only had 6 eps, was they had no idea how popular this show would become...But yah all eps are here, so start watching and enjoy.

im starting the series today and I see that season 1 only has 6 episodes. Is that the entire season? Was wondering since season 2 and 3 have way more. wanna make sure i don't miss anything

Dunno know just used to having for so many years (Comcast illegal hookups)
and after not having it's kind of weird all that I could ever want( except documentaries) is here. And for free. I guess with cable I wouldn't be able to share or have a cool Hans Solo avatar!!!!!!! ; ]

“It’s going to be different in a lot of ways. We’ll see a very different Rick Grimes for one. His experiences against the Governor and with the various things that happened to him in season three are informing his character in huge ways. We’ll see a lot of familiar elements from season three: we’ll see the prison, Rick and his group are still in the same place but those elements are all going to be radically different. I can’t really get into it but season four is going to be extremely different than season three in some very startling and cool ways.
This is the moment where Rick takes a turn; he’s no longer going to be pushing people away, he’s no longer going to be doing what ever he can to protect these people in ways that hurt other people. He’s not going to be the guy who would leave that guy on the side of the road — the backpack guy in Episode 12. He’s letting the people of Woodbury in and trying to tell Carl that these people are like us, you have to be open to this and the only way to survive in this world is to have people and be in a community. That’s going to be a big part of season four.”
P.S. If you need a fix, I'd recommend The Walking Dead comic the show's based on -- it's the same but different; like an parallel universe.
