This week I only saw a couple movies. Last night I rewatched The Devil Wears Prada and absolutely hated it. I'm still glad to see Emily Blunt with the Golden Globe nod, but she doesn't really deserve it. I also saw Red Riding Hood which was an annoying little no-budget mess that I swear had two DVD releases - the most recent being in the Redbox at Stop & Shop.

Reviews for Shortbus and "The West Wing" seasons one and two are still on the way. Also, I really hope I can see The Queen and The History Boys this week. They are playing across the street.

Just exactly what you would expect, a lot of high school/college hijinks. Lots of sex obsessed kids doing their thing. Not that it wasn't entertaining now and then, it was, but too much raunch. Mildly amusing.

Funny in some parts, but the frat boy party plot is extremely old and stale.

Marginal thumbs up. I like the original trilogy and I found Band Camp to be an okay comedy that fell short. This one is better than expected (even with some gross-out moments), especially since there are also some decent scenes of female nudity to go with the laughs.

Belive it or not I was actually really excited about this when it came out intheatres, I loved the trailer and I thought this was going to be the shit. Well I was half right, it turned out being shit. As you all know I love Robin Williams, and I love Grey's Anatomy, especially Sandra Oh so I was thinking great trailer, great cast, a thriller..I'm going to love this move.. Ya not so much. The cast is great and thats why its getting a three, Robin is always such an odd ball with drama's he always makes me feel uncomfortable with his drama roles and this doesnt differ, he is really weird in this one though. Sandra Oh is great but waste and Collette is fantastic..thats were it stops. The plot is too odd my taste and the film was put together to messy, the pacing is horrible, not a thrill in site and it just doesnt entertain you, I wanted to like this movie I really did but i just couldnt, such a waste. It also asks so many questions but never answer them so your sitting there, left thinking..WTF?

Bottom Line:
Huge potential, great cast but such a mess

This movie was not as horrible as everyone is making it out to be. I found it to be much more funny than American Pie's first miss after American Wedding. Band Camp, however, made me laugh, but it also left me thinking the movie was ridiculously stupid. The Naked Mile was definitely one of the most sexual American Pie movies, winner of the most nudity. The story was touching without being too mushy. I didn't much care for the story surrounding the "Naked Mile." A virgin girl giving her virgin boyfriend a "free pass" to have sex with whomever with no consequences for a weekend? That was very unusual. Other than that, The Naked Mile was bearable. Who knows? Maybe it'll manage to pull a few laughs out of you.

The fifth (I think) installment of the American Pie series features few of the original characters. In fact the only one I can think of is Eugene Levy. In any case, this film is about Erik Stifler, the famed Stifler's cousin. He's not so lucky in the lady department and this has caused embarassment for both him and his family. As with the first American Pie, he sets about to lose his virginity by the end of the movie. Unfortunately, similar to Kevin's dilemna in the first installment, his girlfriend is reluctant to join in on his quest for flesh. She gives him a "free pass" for the weekend he goes up to college with some friends to visit his cousin. This is immediately deemed the stupidest thing she's ever done by her friends. Things go quite well up at college when the boys discover they've arrived just in time for the annual "Naked Mile." It's just what it sounds like. People run naked for a mile. And drink beer. Sounds like tons of fun. Anyway, in the end it all works out. Doesn't it always?

There's plenty of gratuitous nudity and low level jokes to be had. Aside from the overly sappy general plot, this reminded me a lot of the National Lampoon's movies. Not award winning material by a long shot, but mindless entertainment none the less.

Starring: John White, Jessy Schram, Jack Siegel, Ross Thomas
Director: Joe Nussbaum

Okay, this movie is not for anyone looking to see a blockbuster comedy. It's stupid highschool humor, some of the same jokes from previous American Pie movies repeated, lots of boobs, lots of sex, lots of drinking. I found parts of it funny, I watched it as a pick me up, something mindless to laugh at and it succeeded; it wouldn't have been worth it otherwise. Overall I wouldn't own this movie, maybe never even rent it, but when it's available.. why not?
