I thought it was confusing the first time too, but it was really well done and I enjoyed it even more the second time. This sounds gross, but aristocrats of that era before and after, many times, thought it was a bad thing to marry someone outside of your own family. Most rich people ended up marrying their cousins. In this case, during Elizabethan England, and the Jacobean era, people were very promiscuous with people they shouldn't have been! Haha.

It was good, but not as historically accurate as I thought since Elizabeth I died in 1603 and not 1601. Still good and I loved how it was told in flashback.

awesome, but very confusing! everybody seems to be everybody's son or daughter... :)

10/10 Best written and acted movie I have seen in a long time.
Shakespeare, whomever he was, was brilliant and so was this film!

reply

Pretty confusing at first but I got the hang of it.... Gotta say, what a brilliant film, it really does makes you wonder.

As of yesterday when I saw this movie, it has to now be one of my favorites. The delivery form all of the actors was incredible. Rhys Ifans does a stunning job.
This is the best period piece movie I have ever seen. For a few hours, it was tied with Cont of Monte Cristo, but I have to say, after thinking on it, this is just BETTER.
The plot is interesting and different than expected, but better.
I thought it would be more about the plays, but it's more about the people and the politics going on at the time with illegitimate children and people's rise to power and how big of an effect theater had on the general public.
WATCH IT! 150/10!!!

The 17th. century or the 21st., it's still the same ol' - same ol'. The human condition will never change. Totally worth a watch. GO WILLIE!!!!
