I like beethoven. it's great movie to watch with my little cousin. kids are really into this. the end works, in a way for little older also.
A slobbering St Bernard dog becomes the center of attention for a loving family but its vet secretly wants to kill him.
Director: Brian Levant
Bad movie, unless you're less than ten years old.
Even Charles Grodin can't save it.
Gotta love Beethoven.

HARMLESS AND RATHER UNINVOLVING FAMILY FILM, PREDICTABLE SITUATIONS. IT HAS ITS CUTE MOMENTS. IT SPAWNED NUMEROUS SEQUELS,SURPRISING SINCE THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ENOUGH IDEAS IN THIS ONE. CHILDREN WOULD PROBABLY ENJOY IT.
Beethoven (1992): 6/10

I guess if you're going to make a movie about a St. Bernard named after a composer, a family that takes it in, and a vet that wants to kill it, this is the way to do it. Charles Grodin and Bonnie Hunt are ok in roles that lie squarely in the stereotypical, but the focus here is clearly the dog. There are enough moments to make you sigh "That rambunctious, old dog," and to make you puke from sentimentality, but Beethoven manages to sidestep the really hardcore sap and salvage itself as perfectly harmless family fare.

Final Grade: C+, or 6/10.
