I really liked this Schneider movie because it wasn't your typical "Schneider-is-a-wimp-but-uses-it-to-his-advantage". This time he had some punch.

Rob Schneider is a carrot rated PG-13

It's got some good laughs--Emmet Walsh as a sleaze lawyer, Henry Gibson, and others. Beats the 'gay in prison' routine to death, but laughs all the way with it. David Carradine as a straight-faced comic, with ghost-lines from Kill Bill adds, but it's the prison guys who make all the laughs. Don't expect Woody Allen, but you'll laugh anyway, and for that it's worth a watch.

(surprisingly well directed by Schneider and this is his first directorial attempt)

Personally I felt that Big Stan was a typical Rob Schneider Film. It has a lot of nice action sequences for a comedy flick. Jennifer Morrison (aka: Dr. Cameron in the tv series HOUSE) was steaming hot in the film. Few laughs here and there but otherwise a movie you'll just have to rent

Not a bad movie :), really funny in places, kind of like 'The Longest Yard', but not as funny.

Though in many ways a blatant ripoff of The Longest Yard, I nonetheless enjoyed the foolishness greatly. Sophomoric, sometimes crude, and fairly predictable, it was a good example of the genre.

:rotten: (out of four)

Of all the famous stars out there I think Rob Schneider is very close to the bottom of the list of those who actually deserve to be famous. Produced and directed by Schneider, Big Stan proves that his directing talent is equal to his acting abilities.

Stan has just been caught ripping off people with his real estate schemes and he has just been sentenced to three years in prison. Scared of being taken advantage of, Stan learns martial arts from the master (David Carradine), so that he can rule the prison when he arrives.

To be fair, the plot has possibilities if done right. It isn't. I just don't find Rob Schneider to be funny. I must admit I did laugh at his "Copy Guy" on "Saturday Night Live", but I haven't since.
