Very dystopian, with a clear message about mind control and what one person could do, good or bad, if they had the power to change things. Loved it. 9/10

I liked it. I enjoyed it very much. Is one of those movies you would like to watch on tv instead of the common garbage they usually put on.

for 1998 the special effects are amazing, tbh i dont think they could be much better today :)

I have heard this film mentioned in the same breath as the matrix for so long now that I decided I had to see it. All I can say is that I'm glad it was made before the matrix and not afterwards.

If it had been made afterwards then it would have been classed as a very low-budget rip-off, as it is, it is an original little film that seems to have been overlooked... especially since a certain title was released in 1999.

I wished it was longer than it was, although the open ending was good.

Dary City has a good premise and many interesting ideas in it. It has its share of flaws but its story is extreme enough to overlook the times when things don't quite seem to make sense. Some of its 'cheesiness' is almost overwhelming at parts but we are never left with disregard for what's going on because it never escapes its serious tone. Many things about it (acting, effects, story) are far from perfect but it's flaws work together to create a fun sci-fi experience.

In chronological order, newest at the top.

Final Destination 2 16/02/04

A highly entertaining extension of the TV series. Feels almost the same, but the benefits of Hollywood. The music in particular is the main link to the TV show, which unfortunately was ignored in the sequel. I'd forgotten how much I liked this movie. It's almost a 'complete' film - a complicated plot, yet everything fits nicely into place in the end, even the over the top helicopter sequence. Great on repeated viewings, particularly second or third times, when more is discovered, if you were only half paying attention the first time.
Film 9/10
Video 7/10
Sound 8/10
Extras 1/10
Overall 8/10

The only thing good about being sick is the time to watch a lot of awesome movies. See my ratings above...

Finally got to see THIRTEEN. It was good. It didn't strike me as being particularly insightful about the teenage years, though. Perhaps, being not too far removed from the titular age (I'm only 17 myself) had something to do with it--I would say it's unrealistic, but that's obviously not true, so I'll say it's exaggerative. It makes the age of thirteen seem to have horrors and certain temptation around every corner. When I was 13, I played Pokemon a lot. Hmm. But that's just me, I guess.

For all its exaggerations, though, it's anchored by two amazing performances by Evan Rachel Wood and Holly "Give Me Another Academy Award Right Now, Because I Deserve It" Hunter. Nikki Reed must be given credit for her performance as well-- throughout the film, I can safely say I wanted to see her get hit by the 10:00 bus, a la Truman Capote. Through the strength of these performances (and some not too shabby direction by Hardwicke), the movie succeeds. :fresh:

Brazil-The best distopian film ever!!!!!!!!!!! Jon Pryce does a great job acting so introverted and DeNiro as (B)uttle is just brilliant. This movie is also proof that you don't need Cgi for convincing special effects. Gilliam is a fucking genius.

Fahrenheit 451-I honestly didn't like this movie even though I wanted to. I am such a big fan of the Bradbury book that I felt had better ideas for a movie version. And the acting is so stiff, I almost fell asleep. Herrmann's score is great though.

1984-John Hurt does a great job performing in this film as Winston although this film is only for people who read the Orwell novel. Also, the film lacks the important spirit the book had which meant alot to me when I read it.

Dark City-GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!! I've never cheered so much in a movie before when Rufes Sewell was kicking telekinetic alien ass. And William Hurt as the Detective is memorable.

Gattaca-REALLY UNDERRATED. This film has great music, performances, photography, and story. It's kind of like Brave New World with the Chaste system. And the suspense is great.

Sorry if I have been lacking pics lately. I've been lazy.:D

Nigth of the Living Dead: It has an interesting execution, and since I have not seen the original, I hold no prejudice against it. The story was presented well, the ending seemed to fit right into the movie, and at least one of the characters was interesting. The make-up and gore scenes were hadled really well, and overall it was really a good movie. What brought it down was the main lady and a couple of the supporting characters. Annoyance and bad acting were present all around.

Dark City: Interesting premise and well executed, yet I dont have an interest in seeing it again.

Bio-Zombie: From the kickass characters, to the many memorable scenes, this is a true winner horror-comedy. I liked it enough to compare its characters to the ones in Dog Soldiers in terms of coolness and perfect interaction between them. They grow and mature on screen, which makes the resolution the more interesting. There are plenty of scenes with so much nonsense going on, that you cant help but smile, yet they dont overshadow the genuine tension and creepy moments all over the movie.
