I despise marketing, haha!
Joking aside, marketing aside, I like the portrayal of humans vs. Prawns. It’s original, politically walking a thin rope and if you just know every government has a David James or two, and every prawn is someone suffering aggression... That’s where the film got me, it talks about stuff no one dares to mention, and it gets away with it.

They used a refreshing format to tell the story and the director used great production value principles to score some of the most awesome scenes and action sequences found in any movie.
The placement of a highly mysterious UFO Mothership stationary above a huge city is unparalleled in the amount of instant drama it produced. That visual evoked emotions that would have taken much longer to reach through scripted dialog - it may not even be possible to create all those different feelings for the audience by using words alone. Brilliant!... and it's only 1 scene in the film!
The graphics are stellar too... I don't recall any movie that has characters who are a complete fabrication AND 100% convincing as real!
I remember watching the 'prawns' and trying to work out where their different organs would be, where their lungs are positioned, their digestive system, etc. I mention that because it shows how completely sold I was on their 'real-ness', to a point that I didn't consider they were CGI!
Their marketing team was outstanding as well and the website they came up with was so cool. It did a great job of allowing the user to imagine they were living and interacting in a real scenario.
I'm sure everyone had a different experience with it, but I think there are probably many in the audience who had a similar experience as mine, I just wish more production companies would incorporate such cool marketing tactics.

Any self-respected sci-fi nerd should see this film, at least once. It was made on a shoe-string budget, but that does not spoil the performance, turns out it’s in serious competition with any mega budget films out there, and it wins every time. Brilliantly done, wonderful story line, solid cast; the film leaves you seriously assessing what you want to achieve as a human being, that is, if you’re not already a ‘’** kking prawn’’. =) 10+/10

This movie was outstanding! One of my favorite E.T. scenario movies, fure sure!

Really can't wait for District-10 to open... will be hard for them to follow the opening act, but maybe it will be a rare sequel that's better than 1.0

this is an amazing film and while a sequel is quite probable not for a while, but blomkamp is working on elysium at the moment which should be amazing :)

I watched this movie when it first came out, loved it then and still love it, great movie. Hopefully Directors Neil Blomkamp & Peter Jackson join forces again for the sequel, but who knows that could possibly be another 3 years away yet, but look forward to it anyway

Still the best sci-fi movie in recent memory. Clever, witty and for a film that had a fairly small budget, the special effects are quite simply astonishing. Director Neil Blomkamp's forthcoming 'Elysium' should be very interesting...
