I'm not a big Spike Lee fan, but I found this movie laying on a stack in the living room, so I popped it into my Playstation and had a watch. What I saw was Denzel Washington doing his thing. This movie was amazing.

He Got Game is one of those moral stories about daddies going to prison and coming back when their sons have made their lives out of something. You know, those types of stories. There is a lot of stuff to this movie that makes it so great.

Watching the basketball scenes is fun, and watching the nice chunk of sex scenes was also fun. Hell, if I were a guy I would be outside right now playing basketball so I could sport around a pack of hot white chicks and a platinum and diamond Rolex.

It was really sad though, to see the movie develop from what seems to be this happy flick to a movie where you really are hit with reality. All of the stuff that happens in this movie has, at one point, really happened and probably is occurring even as I write this review.

You should go check this movie out because it has Denzel in it and well, because it's really smart and has a point. Your girlfriend will like it!

While this was better than Spike Lee's other stuff it still wasn't great. I do like the idea. Denzel is in jail and if he can convince his son to play for a certain college the governor will let him out of prison early. He still has about 10 years left on his sentence. The problem is that his so doesn't care for him too much. The biggest problem with this film is that Ray Allen isn't the best actor. At times he was alright and other times he was awful. Of course Denzel gives a great performance. There were also some people such as John Tuturro and a lot of other familiar faces that gave good performances as well. Another problem I had was the ending I just didn't like it. Overall I guess it wasn't bad but I definitely won't be adding it to the collection.

Probably one of the more underrated sports movies I've ever seen. When people think sports movies, they think Hoosiers or Remember the Titans but I think this. One of my favorite roles for Denzel Washington. And Ray Allen...who woulda known he could act? This was one of the first movies that showed the luxury and pressure a high school athlete can have if they make the jump to the pros. Great acting, great story, loved it.

REVIEW:
The one thing that saves this film from being a stinker is Denzel. Plain and simple. I mean, Ray Allen does a surprisingly good job for an NBA star but it is Denzel who holds this film together and keeps it moving. In essence, this is Spike Lee's love letter to basketball, well, college basketball anyway. For any sports fan, this one's a must, you'll see everything you hear about in the news - bribes, money, gifts, agents, etc. But for the nonsports fan, there's an excellent human drama between Denzel and Milla Jovovich's hooker character, Dakota. The only thing that took away from complete enjoyment was this film is a bit too long. I know, I know sissy complaint, but it's true, it would have been much better if the story was a little tighter. Still, all the trademark Spike Lee film traits are there for your enjoyment. :up:

So many good actors in this film its hard to comment on any of them...except Marv. He was the best damn character in the film. The look of the film was really good, evben down to the bastards yellow dick getting ripped off.

Great cast, great story, great movie.

Wicked (8/10) - An entertaining show with nice sets and good singing/music. The second half is better than the first, mainly because it kinda ties itself together with the Wizard of Oz.


Sahara - I don't think the romantic leads have much spark between them, but there are a decent number of big action sequences to bring in the fun. The film doesn't hold much interest when they're not being chased or blowing stuff up, tho. It's interesting that nowadays, a $130M movie that 'only' made $68M at the box office can still have sequel if it does well enough on DVD.
