Harold & Kumar - Another one of those anything goes type of comedies. It seems like American comedies are trending towards that type. A pretty funny movie, although there are some slow moments. After seeing John Cho at the Comic Con and watching him on Jay Leno, it does seem like was attempting an accent in the film which seemed a little strange to me. He also seems more natural at the end as a confident, smart asian dude than the geeky type throughout the rest of the film. Kal Penn seems more natural with his role. For some reason, he reminds me a little bit of Raffi. Overall, a decent movie where the leading asian stars aren't doing martial arts (I thought Harold was gonna do some kung fu at the end on his white co-workers, but instead he just outsmarted them).

How to Marry a Millionaire - A romantic comedy starring Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, and Lauren Bacall. Man, this film looks really good. It's also pretty funny - although most of laughs went to Betty Grable.

A highly entertaining romantic comedy, extremely funny and well written. What a wonderful cast - Lauren Bacall, Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, William Powell, Cornell Wilde...It's Monroe that steals the picture though. Great ending!

Saw three movies today--Batman Begins, which I completely loved, Suspicion, which was pretty good, and How to Marry a Millionnaire, which was quite funny.

I'd been looking forward to seeing Batman Begins ever since it came out (and okay, really quite a while before that--I love the original Batman and I've seen all of them except for Batman Returns in the theater). And this one is probably my second favorite of all of them (my favorite, of course, being the original Batman with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson). It was so good! And I love Morgan Freeman, so that was an added bonus.

I enjoyed Suspicion, too--no big surprise, because I really like Cary Grant (or at least the few Cary Grant movies I've seen). I didn't much care for the ending, though. Although I didn't see it coming, I still didn't like it.

And I saw How to Marry a Millionnaire (continuing my Lauren Bacall lovefest), which I really enjoyed. It's only the third Marilyn Monroe movie I've seen, and it's the first movie of Lauren Bacall's I've seen where she hasn't been with Humphrey Bogart. I thought it was funny and while I did see this ending coming, that didn't take away from my enjoyment.

I hope to see War of the Worlds next weekend, and I also want to continue with my classic movie watching. We'll see how it goes.

It's a guilty pleasure, but I love this movie!

After living with this most recent haircut for a week, I can confidently say that it's rubbish. I look like a bizarre cross between Prince Valient and Alfalfa.



I suppose you can forgive the sexism in HTMAM a bit since it reflects attitudes that were pretty widely accepted at the time. It's a lot harder to forgive the sexism in Pretty Persuasion. We really ought to know better by now. The people that made this one are clearly terrified of women, and it shows in nearly every frame of the movie. It's supposed to be a dark comedy in the mode of Heathers. Unfortunately, it forgets to be funny. It fails in its attempts at social commentary as well by making every character in the movie loathsome. Hard to justify the time it takes to watch it.

Not one of Marilyn's best.

Amazing cast with the likes of Betty Grable, Lauren Bacall and of couse Marilyn Monore but I feel that this movie is stale and uninspiring. Monroe plays a typically dumb blonde and as we all know, can play this role with her eyes closed but the performance isn't anything we haven't seen before. I found it mundane with an odd chortle here and there but not much else. If you're a Monroe fan it's worth a watch but she's done much, much better.
