Art films can't center around gigantic, green CGI creatures. Nice try, Ang. Jennifer Connelly was very good, though.

Many people around this place seem to despise this movie. I found it to be quite entertaining, and easily superior to Spiderman. I actually cared about the characters, due to this thing called character development.

Sure, Hulk doesn't show up until 40+ minutes into the feature, but when he shows up, he let's you know he's there. A nice little rampage later, and he jumps away.

The fight between Hulk and the pooches was alright, but nothing extraordinary. However, I really did dig the scene right before it when Banner metamorphises and beats the Hell out of the azzhole, whatever his name is, it escapes me right now....

The rampage through the desert base and desert is an absolute treat to watch, and the final confrontation with his father definately raised an eye brow the first time I saw the movie, but makes much more sense after a subsequent viewing.

In the end, Hulk is a welcome addition to the Superhero genre, ranking near the top of the spectrum.

This is strange to me. Anyways, I'm getting the Hulk tonight and hopefully watching it, so I rated it. I hate the 10 point scale...4 is so much better.

It's late. I watched the Hulk tonight. I thought it was pretty good, actually; the story was deep and thought-provoking, the actors convicing, the CG decent... the development got sloppy sometimes and the movie gets to be silly... but you all sort of get used to it. Since my video store has a policy that says you can get other movies if you brings yours in before midnight, I got The Good Thief, Courage Under Fire and American Psycho.

Otherwise, my life is pretty bland... but the weekend is good for unwinding and cramming a lot of moviewatching.

I had goose for supper. It's alright.

What's with all the hate people have for mushrooms, anyway? This obviously comes from my last entry and comments I got. I guess they might be an acquired taste.

Saw Hulk today. I was surprised by how good it actually turned out to be. Sure some of the CGI was lacking a bit, but overall the film was really well done.

I really loved the use of unusual transitions and especially panels, comic book style. Danny Elfman's score was also a plus, as well as Ang Lee's work. Overall, it was a bit long but definitely worth seeing. Some of the scenes were a bit dark visually, and a few things were unintentionally funny, but otherwise, it was a good two hours.

Overall it has been a pretty good day. Got to play some video games as well. Baseball and Soul Calibur II, which is a great game.

I suppose you have to give props to Ang Lee for trying to take the material seriously. Sure, it's great to have some character development. To a point. Unfortunately, when you get right down to it...

HULK DULL

The actors... droning. The visuals... pretty good, but not enough to carry a film. The villian... ridiculous. The spiffy split-screen technique... OVERUSED. Again... thank you Ang Lee for trying to garner some respect for an oft-dismissed genre, but when you're making a movie about a nine-foot tall green mutant monster, don't make me wait for an hour before shit starts blowing up.

It's rare that I am both dissapointed and amazed by a film at the same time. The visual direction of the film by Ang Lee was dazzling. Lee shows that he is a master of his technique by providing some of the most impressive visual direction I have ever seen. Unfortunately, Lee's visual direction belongs to a film that really doesn't deserve it. Though nice to look at, Hulk suffers from bad pacing, bad CGI, and a storyline that is frankly not interesting. It's a shame really, because it's clear that Lee had a clear vision of how he wanted this film to look. However, he may have spent too much time concerning himself with the style of his film rather than the substance.
