Yet another rehash of a very familiar story, it has occasional mildly chilling scenes, but it's predictability takes the punch out of the film. The acting is adequate and no one actor hurts the film. Thankfully it was edited down to 91 minutes, which helps the pacing.

what could i have possibly expected when i rented this one from blockbuster? i hope these teens behave themselves each summer from now on so i am not subjected to another one of these. two hot chicks and one good throat- slashing are the lone high points. in exchange, the viewer is asked to endure a terrible plot. no, make that a ridiculous and terrible plot. wait, a painfully bad, ridiculous and terrible plot. you get the idea.

I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer can only be compared to one other "horror" movie - 2005's "The Scorned", a movie which was cast entirely with reality stars. Not a good start. Like "The Scorned", IAKWYDLS (Jesus that's a long title!) is a bad movie. And I mean really bad. I believe that I gave "The Scorned" a 5.5/10 also.

The cast of IAKWYDLS consists of Brooke Nevin, who gives in a so-so performance (the best one of the bunch) as Amber, the lead character who believes that everyone is in trouble because she got 50 text messages saying "I know what you did last summer". David Paetkau not only has a difficult last name but can't act. His character is the pretty boy alcoholic who is Amber's ex-boyfriend. Torrey DeVito is almost as bad as Paetkau, playing a wannabe-rocker-chick with negative one dimensions. Ben Easter gives an equally so-so performance to Nevin's, playing the new love interest who gets involved in their little debacle with a crazy killer named the fisherman.

What's the plot? *Copies and pastes plot of the first movie* It's basically a remake, although they do reference the first two movies briefly and try and round it out as a trilogy. The writer, Michael D. Weiss, is to blame for any on-screen poopiness that doesn't involve the acting. The director Sylvain White, has some pretty inspired shots (for a straight-to-DVD movie, at least). I was impressed by his use of color and by the way the movie looked. They should've sent this to theatres, not put it straight to DVD. I'm sure it's better than "Pulse" and "The Omen" put together.

I know I've pretty much trashed it up until this point. Why, you might ask, did I give it a technically fresh rating? Cause I had fun. My expectations were as low as possible and it met my expectations. I like when movies do that. It was a fun movie, no matter how poorly written or acted. It's nice to look at and it had some cool scenes. I was able to enjoy myself - I generally like bad horror movies. The only thing it could have done better was not take itself so seriously. Snakes on a Plane didn't take itself seriously, and I loved it.

In conclusion, if you liked the first and second movies, I'd try this one out. It's bad, but it's good. If that makes sense.

If you had no idea that this movie existed, don't feel bad. I think it pretty much came out of nowhere. Anyway, considering this was a straight-to-video installment of a horror trilogy, it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. However, it was still pretty boring at the beginning and then got a bit crazy toward the end. There are some decent scenes throughout the middle, but nothing scary enough.

I thought this movie could have been descent if it wouldn't have gotten sci fi on us. Seriously, they best they could think of was to make the ghost of Ben Willis come back to terrorize a group of teenagers. The movie is slow moving most of the time, and it's really not fun to watch.

I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer...

okay...so when you're taking a 14 hour road trip with a sister who loves horror movies...you're gonna watch some shitty stuff...
that's what happened here. this movie was just absolutely horrible.
horrible acting...horrible story...the worst "twist" that shouldn't be considered a twist because it is ridiculous...

This week I only saw a couple movies. Last night I rewatched The Devil Wears Prada and absolutely hated it. I'm still glad to see Emily Blunt with the Golden Globe nod, but she doesn't really deserve it. I also saw Red Riding Hood which was an annoying little no-budget mess that I swear had two DVD releases - the most recent being in the Redbox at Stop & Shop.

Reviews for Shortbus and "The West Wing" seasons one and two are still on the way. Also, I really hope I can see The Queen and The History Boys this week. They are playing across the street.

When you put this and The Covenant side by side, you get a total headache that is not like the headache the Japanese audience got from watching Babel.
