@Oblite Agreed. Just watched it a few hours ago and loved it.

"Now that's what I call a close encounter." Will Smith is on point, as well as the rest of them.

If you can get past the U.S. is number one propaganda plastered throughout this flick, you'll find a good, not too deep movie. Aliens suddenly decide our planet is its next target for necessary resources. A number of cities are toast and its up to a collaberation of characters to kick some ass like only we human beings can. I can handle that. Plus, the site of the white house exploding was just awesome.
The movie is probably more of a guy flick because of it's action sequences and special effects. But the interaction between Will Smith-Jeff Goldblum-Judd Hirsch is actually quite funny, as is any scene with Randy Quaid.
One of the few flaws in this movie is trying to buy into Bill Pullman as President Of The United States.

A cool Sci-Fi/comedy/action movie. The effects are good for 1996. I found it was a bit long and bit cheesier than I had remembered before. Still a good movie, it will always be one of ym favorite lazy night movies. It's good to watch when you just want to sit and have a good time watching a movie. 8 on 10.

Okay, so it's been a while...

Went to Cubs vs. Giants on Tuesday, thanks to NU Day at Wrigley. The game wasn't that exciting - pitchers duels aren't that good live. And Barry Bonds didn't hit a homer, either. But I got to see him play, so it's not like it was a total waste. Plus, I was with some cool people, and it's hard not to have fun at Wrigley (though the first time I went to a game there was much better). I think I'm bad luck for the Cubs, though. They're 0-3 when I see them. Not like that'll keep me away, but still...

Of course, going to the game meant missing 24 and Sherry's death. Dammit!!! Nina and Sherry dead in one season. This might be a good move, though, because it will keep the writers from finding contrived ways to bring them back.

I've just gotten into Aqua Teen Hunger Force and it rules my world.

ID4 may be your average blockbuster, but it's still hella cool. And the effects hold up, too.

Uncle Tom's Cabin... now that's a frustrating bitch of a book. Is it racist? Overly Christian? Extremely sentimental? Feminist? All of the above? None of the above? It's an immensely complex novel, despite the fact that it's a fairly easy read (that always helps). I'm reading Whitman again - he tends to come up often when you take English. But I like him. He's cool. Totally not pretentious. "Song of Myself" could've been a lot shorter, though.

You know your Psych prof kicks ass when he brings up the penis game during class. I love this guy.

Oh, and USA Today, it's DUNWOODY. Not "Dunwoodie". You bastards.

Barbershop 2 - ok movie, not as funny as the first.

ID4 - liked it more now than my first theatrical viewing. I just can't help but notice how similiar The Day After Tomorrow is to it. Anyway, this Limited Edition DVD sucks. There's a sticker on the cover promoting an Inside Look at The Day After Tomorrow. The running time is less than the length of the teaser trailer. There's also 9 additional, but unnoticable, minutes of footage not seen in the theatrical release. You do get two commentary tracks by the director, producer, and effects guys which I liked. Still, a very underwelming and unnecessary DVD release.

Club Dread - Some of the lines are actually pretty funny, but I guess the deliveries aren't that great. Yeah, there are some hot chicks, a couple breast shots, and some gore, but it's still rather tame for an R-rated film. It also has that make-it-up-as-you-go feel to it. It just seems like a bunch of guys found a camera, got some beer, and made a movie before they passed out.

We got these movies for free at RT, so might as well not waste them.

I'm still at my mother's. Tomorrow morning goes my flight to Chicago.

Tonight my brother and I still watched The Day After Tomorrow, and we both were in no way amazed. After all the promotion you expect so much more, and it was so boring instead. The dialogues were braindead, the special effects seemed just old. All I liked really was the actor of Donnie Darko. Also too many questions were unanswered:
- Why the hell do people use umbrellas when half their body is already under water?
- Where do people get winter clothes from all of the sudden, did they know before they had to wear them?
- Why does the guy keep talking on the phone under water, although he'd just have to step to the side to breathe air again?
etc.
But I should have known I shouldn't expect too much. I hadn't liked Roland Emmerich's Independence Day much, too.
