What a good watch. Christopher Walken portrays a modern day Robin Hood. Trading in the bow and arrow for a .45, the gangster puts up with nothing, and will not hesitate to exact vengeance on those who act against the people.

sorry, but i have a weak spot for asian chicks kicking all kinds of ass. it rules. it has its slow parts, that seem to come at odd times. i docked it a bit for the pacing, and odd turns in the story. other than that, i enjoyed.

Ok..I just spent 71 minutes typing a review of King of New York..I did a great big tale of Christopher Walken. I had colored it in with Eric Roberts' tales. I did a bit of a rampage about Pope of Greenwich Village.

And then.. uh.. welcome to the WWW... I got zapped by the offline static charge and zapo. everything undid. Gone. Never to return. Fingers are too screwed to bother typing it all again. Saving them for Clint's clean-ups. I was going to do all of those yesterday but the gang was just in hang out mode.

We had a two hour lunch and then a two hour hang out at the coffee shop.

My friends are in town from LA this week, so I am off to go find them, and to see what's going on. Tomorrow night... check it out..bowling.

wow.

later gaters.

This freakin' ROCKED! It's like a New York version of Scarface (blacks rather than Cubans) and stars good ole Chris Walken (can't go wrong there). It starts off just mediocre but is great by the end. More violent than Scarface too but not quite as good when it comes to dialog. This may be my favorite movie that I've watched all summer (behind Casino) out of the one-hundred or so that I've watched with my 2 months of unlimited Blockbuster rentals.

You know the story a guy gets released from prison and wants to take over where he left off. However to do this he may have to get rid of a few people in the process, and the cops want him back behind bars. I know a brand new idea!
The main character played by Christopher Walken is done very well. Now the rest of the cast is decent but nothing great. David Caruso plays one of the most annoying people ever. He really bothered me in this and so did Laurence Fishburne who seems to have taken acting classes from Charlton Heston. What do I mean by this? His overacting is done way to often for me. Also for some reason every rich black gangster that works for Walken looks like they should be in a RUN DMC video. The last thing that bothered me was the mediocre action scenes. The gun fights were just ok and so were the car chases.
The movie is fast moving and entertaining but it could have been a lot better. If you like Walken he plays the gangster well. I wouldn't go out of your way to see this. I should have known since my dad told me it was good.

Salutations folks,
Some of you may be thinking to yourself "wow, he sure hasn't posted in quite awhile" and I was thinking the same thing thats why I have given my 110% and sat up until 4:30a.m. to bring you a nice post about my troubles over the past few days.

A few days ago my computer restarted several times in a short period. It has been a constant problem over the past few years, and I finally decided to do something about it. I have known for a long time that it was a hardware related problem, and finally traced it to a bad harddrive. Since I had several harddrives just laying around, I finally decided to replace it - going from a 4.3GB disk to a 30GB disk.

Well, my BIOS didn't want to Auto-Detect the drive paramiters on my new harddrive, so quite defeated, I decided to put the old drive in.

Well, i'd assume I had a virus on there that messed around some files, because when I turned it back on, I was completely locked out of the operating system. After several attempts - I still could not get back in. I didn't want to format the drive to re-install windows, so I didn't.

I picked up another 4.3GB and tried it - Auto-Detect didn't work. I manually put in the parameters - nothing.

Finally in what I thought was going to be a definite failure - I unplugged everything and just put the harddrive in.

Auto-Detect failed, but it picked up the drive when I put in the parameters. Put a CD rom drive back in - and installed windows. And i've never been happier just to talk to random people.

I've watched several movies since I last posted. I figured since I haven't played any new games - might as well post another movie.

The Cure - Boys Don't Cry

Rating: 80%

I am not a terribly big fan of The Cure. But this album has so many odd, quirky and most of all catchy riffs that its hard not to enjoy it to some extent. It is some older stuff and I feel it truly encases the bands roots - its not the goth-ier stuff that people expect when they listen to the Cure.

The chunk of vinyl its on is being copied to a cassette for my car - a privelage only given to a few albums. I've grown quite fond of it and I strongly recommend it for anyone who likes the Cure - but in moderation. Or any Echo and the Bunnymen fans.

This is a spoiler, it gives away parts of the movie, if you have intentions on watching, you may not want to read further than the ratings.

Memento

Overall Rating: 100%
Filming: 100%
Writing: 100%
Acting: 100%

Overall: This film was amazingly well done, the twists, the turns. The filming, the writing, the acting - all perfect. I was skeptical about it for quite some time, however when I got to the end of the film I thought instantly "This film is going on my top 10 film list - definitely up in the top 5."

Filming: The way the movie was filmed, completely backwards, black and white at times. It was superb. The filming style fit the movie perfectly, and without it - the movie wouldn't have been 1/2 as good. I find very few movies which are actually impacted quite positively just based on the way they are filmed, this is one of the ones which just added so much to the story that its hard to deny.

Writing: It kind of gives a subtle message about humanity amidst all of the chaos. How people develop their own challenges and take on so much just to feel significant - as if they are actually doing something. People that go out and try to help people, not to be selfless, not to help others. But just for something to do, something to make themselves seem significant and wanted in the world. Those people are around everywhere, the people that sit alone and have no clue what they are doing with their life - or what they should do. The people that wake up and don't even know the date. And while it didn't really come into play until the last few moments in the movie, I felt that the message attached with the rest of this spectacularly written film - more than even needed to be one of the best movies i've watched.

Acting: While nothing spectacular came from the acting, the way the actors were used was quite good. They all gave very convincing roles, I saw nothing but good things amidst all of the actors in this movie. Each person played their role so convincing, each person came off as "this person could've done it" and it just added a very essential suspense in the movie, perpetuating what the writer wanted - to keep people guessing until the end.

King of New York

Overall Rating: 70%
Filming: 80%
Writing: 80%
Acting: 70%

Overall: The movie had a fair amount of potential. It lacked the film style - but it was very reminiscient of Tarantino work - I don't know if it was Walken and Buscemi - but there was definitely some connections there - almost as if it were a bit of a starting point to a lot of the revival of the genre, forgotten and far surpassed by Quentin Tarantino only two years later.

Filming: Nothing spectacular, a lot of guns and shooting. A few effects with that, but nothing that a low budget snuff film couldn't match.

Writing: The writing, it was an alright story line, although I found it quite hard to believe a few bits and piece of it. I felt that a lot of the deaths could've been elaborated on a bit more, I hate watching movies where each character gets shot then talks for about 5 minutes while they die. But in this movie its hard to even tell who died and who didn't. The person may fall down - or it is an assumed event. In the end Walken is the only one left, but nothing had been seen of half of his followers for quite some time. I'm sure the writer killed them off in one of the gun fights. But it would've been nice to let the viewer into that information.

Acting: Star cast - Moderate acting. Some of the characters are a tad unbelievable, some are quite well done. I'm not sure how many of the actors were famous then, but I know a lot of them went on to become legends of the genre later on - maybe thanks to this film - maybe not.

End of the Spoiler

I'll post them as I watch them.

Enjoy.

Great film. I've seen this baby a few times and never gotten bored with it. So I bought a copy. I love Christopher Walken's dancing. I love the subway ride. The car chase scene is superb. The funeral, awesome. Crazy film. And the silence. Hey, there's just no justice in the world we live in.

This movie was pretty entertaining. While it was nothing we havent seen in movies already such as carlito's way or scarface it was unique and stood out.
