In the fall of 1959, for a time capsule, students draw pictures of life as they imagine it will be in 50 years. Lucinda, an odd child who hears voices, swiftly writes a long string of numbers. In 2009, the capsule is opened; student Caleb Koestler gets Lucinda's "drawing" and his father John, an astrophysicist and grieving widower, takes a look. He discovers dates of disasters over the past 50 years with the number who died. Three dates remain, all coming soon. He investigates, learns of Lucinda, and looks for her family. He fears for his son, who's started to hear voices and who is visited by a silent stranger who shows him a vision of fire and destruction. What's going on?

Great Observation Enk, I noticed it as well, when it first came out, didn't think about it. Now Your comment made me watch it over....You ARE CORRECT, SIR.Thank You.

I think this film was memorable, but not because of the actor performances.
Remember the Oil Rig Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and the terrible 9.0 Japanese quake?
It appears that both of those incidents were 'predicted' in the movie. I am not sure the exact time stamp, but there is a news report on T.V. where Cage is watching from a hotel room I think.
In the scene you can see a clip of a burning oil rig and water spouts dousing the fire. The clip mirrors, almost perfectly, the real disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. I believe the exact date and time of the disaster is also included in the scene
There is reference to the Japan quake as well, but, in order to keep this post shorter, you'll need to search the net if you want to learn more about it.
That's why it is memorable to me...

Nicholas Cage can play sad and lifeless like no other actor can. I'd forgotten that I'd seen this movie before--very UNmemorable. It's okay...5.5/10 stars.

really really good film, surprising seeing as i usually think nicolas cage is a bad actor, but he was pretty good in this, and the story was bloody fantastic!! totally unexpected twists near the end, a very refreshing take on a usually cliche part of cinema, without a doubt this is so worth a watch, much more than alot of films i've seen lately, and i garuntee, you so wont see the ending coming at all.

POSSIBLE SPOILER.
i also like the underlying and subtle take on angels and various parts of mythology and religion, there are alot of religious stories if you look properly (for instance noah and his ark being one) all this really made this an even better story! and so unexpected :)

This movie will have you going until the last 10 minutes. If they just freaking cut it off, then it would have been GREAT, but instead, they crammed religion down our throats. My best friend and I were pretty shocked at the religious tones of a "mainstream" films. REALLY annoying. Other than that, it had some great moments!

Great acting, great action, good suspense, some twists and very nice special effects. Leaves some unanswered questions, but overall, fulfills the desire to go escape for a few hours and be entertained.
