I am not usually one to do flick-worship, but this one really hit me. The concept(s) are so simple, yet so well played.
And thank god Hayden Christensen was too young to be in the movie across from Natalie Portman.
@homelessdude2005 Could not have said it better myself...
Ahh...yes...I saw your comment and decided it was that time of year to re-visit Leon.
A solid flick that came out of nowhere and still holds up 20 years later. If you have not taken the time to watch this, do yourself a huge freaking favor and set aside 110 minutes of your life for some great cinema and story telling. Flicks like this don’t come around that often.
You can't go wrong with Jean Reno or Gary Oldman. They always bring to their characters an unexpected angle. But those 2 are not the only highlights in terms of acting. There are so many solid performances by supporting characters, who are too many to list.
And of course, this crazy story about an assassin extraordinaire mentoring a young girl in assignations and life. Just a solid, weird, unexpected story that totally works.
This movie has got to rank up that as one of the top 10 classic sleepers. When it came out, nobody knew about it but word of mouth made it a hit.
Ahhhh, just got my yearly fix...this one never gets old.
I agree with everyone else, one of my all time favorites. Now I will watch it again..
The best action movie ever!!!
This is one of those movies that I try to watch at least once a year or so, just so I can remember how epically bad-ass it actually is.
This is in my top 5. Best bad guy in town in Gary Oldman. Best kid actress at the time in Natalie Portman. And the guy that was destined to be cast as Leon, Jean Reno. This movie has one of the best endings I've ever seen. I can't say enough about this movie.
what a pleasure it was to re-watch this after many years, a classic masterpiece, touching, emotional, great cinema and music... Natalie Portman is so cute!
One of those great movies that can be watched over and over.
