The Purge (2013)

5 minutes agoNever in the history of being in the theaters have I
1. Heard someone clap when a bad guy wins
2. hear so much talking and laughing in the background
I didn't find the movie to be humorous but it turns out that a lot of other people in this theater did...
Man of Steel (2013)

PeterDarker,
1 hour ago@driner777, I'm right there with ya. Apparently there was a Bruce Campbell cameo in the Evil Dead reboot, but it got scrapped at the last minute. Would love to see him as ash one more time on screen. By the by, did you notice the other Evil Dead cameo in the Spider-Man films? Uncle Ben's car is the same car Bruce drives in the ED trilogy.

It's definitely not a film for people that need the standard framework of set-up/experience/closure. I enjoyed it, I enjoy the whole mythos. This was Scott's attempt to expand this universe, whether or not he will be at the helm of any of the movies to follow. On the BluRay, there is a memorandum that connects this to Blade Runner, by using notes comparing the ideology behind the creation of different androids. I also enjoyed the AVP movies, because what most non-fans do not realize, they successfully connected two entirely separate franchises, while explaining a little more about the appearance and geneology of the xenoporphs (as expanded in this movie). Scott was right in denying that this was an Alien prequel; it is in the same universe as the Aliens, but is the prelude to a much greater story, and a much larger universe with will implicate all of the Alien and Predator movies (and Blade Runner) in hiding secrets from us that we should have already known by watching the movies.
