The Tick (2001)

20 minutes agoIf you're not familiar with the Tick, it started as a comic that lampooned the seriousness of some of the absurd super heroes and villains to reach print. It's success inspired an animated series that ran for three years. Even though it was very successful, for one of those strange production reasons, it stopped. This, in turn, inspired an attempt at a live action series. This is what put Patrick Warburton on the map. Only he could have pulled off the deadpan seriousness that is the staple of the idea behind the Tick, and to this day, whenever I see him in something I can't help but picture him in his blue suit, preaching to his sidekick, Arthur, about the philosophical difference between vanilla and chocolate, or come to the rescue of a vending machine suffering the abuses of someone who just lost their change to it.

It's kind of strange that all this is happening before the 5 year mission...but I'm enjoying it! I also like how this didn't end anything, it's like pt. 2 of the newly reconfigured journeys of the starship Enterprise, on it's 5 year mission to explore new worlds, meet new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
