This movie is nothing short of great. It isn't often that you can say that about a remake, let alone an adaption from a half hour show to a two hour movie. The writing is high quality, in the spirit of Mel Brook's iconic TV show.
The story flows well, and the comedy is smart and unforced. You could have a better cast, with each well known and recognizable actor/actress perfectly fitting the role. Carell, it seems, was born for this role, and after watching him nail the character as he does, it makes you wonder if he idolized Maxwell Smart as a kid.
It isn't often that a well written comedy comes along that seems like it's serious, but has you laughing at the subtle gags and situations that evolve naturally. It definitely makes you miss that class of writers that brought us the likes of Mel Brooks and Woody Allen.
If you haven't seen this, then you must. If you have seen it, then you need to revisit it.

I actually liked this movie. For some reason, I like movies that are filmed primarily in one location, not sure why. I also like a lot of the After Dark movies and this was a pretty good one.
