@movie_junkie the main reason that I'm not complaining about those franchises is because they don't mean as much to me as this does. I would never even think of comparing this to such trivial films as Fast and Furious or SAW, in fact for me the idea of doing so is laughable. Perhaps I didn't make this clear earlier but this book was my childhood. It was the first thing I ever read and is still up there as one of my all time favourites. Also as I said before my complaint is merely that there were too many scenes that really just feel like they are trying to fill time, read the book and you will know what I mean. And again I DID enjoy the film I just couldn't help but feel like they could have done a lot better with this and so I couldn't help but feel quite let down. But I am willing to remain open minded and I will of course be watching the next 2 installments.
PS I can't help but think that your point with LOTR is quite invalid as that was already a trilogy and so of course it needed a 3rd film. The Hobbit was nowhere near as long in terms of story. To give you a rough idea the entire LOTR TRILOGY is roughly 2000 pages give or take. My copy of The Hobbit has 279 pages.

Really liked this movie, been a while since I have found a film that really makes me say 'What the f***' also nice to see AnnaLynne McCord throwing herself into this role she played it well!

The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone (2013)
Plot:
Archaeologist Dr. Michael Stone looked for the lost medallion his entire life, and now his son Billy has taken up the search. Amazingly, the medallion ends up in Billy’s hands and a spontaneous wish in a precarious situation takes Billy and his best friend Allie, back 200 years to what they realize is a very different Aumakua Island.

I love the prequels to the star trek. But the next cast pretty much suck from generations to nemesis.
