I watched this movie tonight and thought it was a pretty dead-on translation of the movie from book to movie. The characters are very much how I pictured them when I read Of Mice and Men and the acting is impressive. If you have not read the book, it's pretty much about a couple of manual laborers around 1930. First you have George, the fairly level-headed guy who is somewhat down on his luck. Then you have his personal retarded giant, Lenny. Seriously though, Lenny is retarded.
Anyways, I enjoyed it and would suggest you watch it if you are looking for something somewhat slower, but not the same mindless crap that you probably, normally watch.
If you like watching a film that has amazing acting in it you have to watch this one. Although this film may seem a bit slow sometimes you get rewarded for your patience with a very moving ending. You will have to buy or rent this because it came out a while back.

We just finished watching this film in my English class.

The book was brilliant, and the movie is an excellent adaptation...in fact, much of the dialogue was taken verbatim out of the book.

Acting-wise, our two main characters were realistically portrayed by Gary Sinise and John Malkovich. I felt intensely for both of them within the first two minutes of the movie. The supporting cast, which included Sherilyn Fenn and Ray Walston, had their characters down to a T - they all were good.

The look and feel of the movie was exactly how I pictured things would happen in my mind as I read the book.

The ending, had I been watching it at home, would've had me sobbing like a baby...as it was, I had to steel myself since I was at school...

Go buy it, I know I'm going to.

A good film based off the great novel by John Steinback, about a semi-retarded giant and his smaller, much more intelligent friend working together at a ranch. The story was obviously meant to be read as a book, because there is a lot of build-up and a very short climax. In movie form, this makes the story rather boring, but still an excellent story. The characters are interesting, except for the only female character in the movie, who just doesn't have enough screentime to make anything about her effective. The acting is superb, John Malkovich will always be remembered for his role here, and Gary Senise has only topped his performance here as Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump. I recommend this movie to anybody who wants to see a good story, with good characters and good performance, even if there is not a whole lot of action in it.

Of Mice and Men was a decent movie. I have seen this movie before. I had to read the book and watch the movie when I was in highschool. It is about a strong mentally challenged guy and his weaker but smarter friend who are working on a ranch. This movie is better portrayed as a book but it wasn't really that bad. I thought the actors did a very good job.
Second time i've seen this. First time I was a little immature 13 year old. This time I was really just drawn into all the plots and subplots. Such a sad story. Malkovich is incredible, just an amazing performance. Sinise also had a good performance. Good overall film, dull in some parts but my overall impression was good, one of those sad movies that you just need to watch sometimes. Very sad but very good, 8 on 10.
