An awesome movie. It made me a cry, a hard task I assure you.

I've often found that people who call this movie crap are also insensitive and heartless.

Another movie about child abuse! This one is a little better than Bastard Out of Carolina, mostly because it has a much better cast, supreme acting, and a better storyline and script.Again, not very entertaining, but for what kind of movie it is, it doesn't suck to bad. Not impressed:down:

Radio Flyer is about 2 young brothers and their mom moving to get a new start on life. Everything is fine until the mom meets a man (Adam Baldwin) and he turns out to not be a very good stepfather. As time goes on, we see that the stepfather is a bad drinker, and he begins to beat the youngest brother Bobby for any and every little thing.

To escape the beatings, the two brothers try and build a plane from a Radio Flyer red wagon.

I really enjoyed this film as a kid... But I most say now that it's not a good movie. It never really address anything... It sort of turns into a disney movie at the end. No really message is sent at all.

I understand the two boys are the main focus, but nobody else really gets screen time here. So few of the characters are developed. So what we have here is a movie that starts to go into something real, but it chickens out and turns disney like with a lame ending.

Good acting by the kids but the film just felt like there was nothing to it. Its a simple story, but I have seen in it so much better in other films. The whole flying scene at the end is completely ridiculous and horribly done that it was laughable. Kind of suprised to see Tom Hanks and a pretty decent size role and not get any kind of credits.

I've watched this movie since I was a kid myself. It deals with the pain of child abuse and the things that kids will do to escape a drunken madman that they're supposed to trust... This kind of plot is almost played out nowadays, but in '92, it was trying to put a gentle and fantastical spin on how to cope with it.

Many "official" critics have bagged the film because they're trying to look too deeply into it, they look for metaphors that are meaningful to them... Just like someone could misinterpret a silly nonsense word like "whomps" to be something slanderous, sexual, or even violent. I've read some of the hypothetical meanings for the scenes in the movie, and most seem concocted from Psych 101.

This movie should be taken at face value, its ending is simple, poignant, and wonderfully refreshing.
