Don't you just love scary movies?!!! I spent the best part of the evening watching the first two scream films.

The movie that introduced "ghostface" on the world and revitalised the slasher flick. The first out of the trilogy was great - a movie based around.. horror movies, whilst being one, and giving a passing nod to a few of the films that had come before it - A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th for starters.

I own the complete trilogy, but this is by far the strongest and most enjoyable out of the three.

The second SCREAM took a jab at sequels, while still managing to pull off a half decent film in it's own right.

Most sequels tend to have a problem. Either its to close to the original, or its so different that it almost doesn't have anything to do with the original. Scream 2, does not suffer from the same sickness. It finds a happy medium between the two types of a sequel, and turns out to be a great flick. Sidney has moved on to college since "Scream," and a movie based on the events that happened in Woodsboro has been released, titled "Stab." However, the horrors that troubled Sidney in the original, have come back to haunt her. She starts to get stalked. People start dying. They attack Sidney, the smart, non-helpless heroine. Again, we are left with the task of figuring out who the masked killer is---and its just as fun as the first time. Infact, the cast didnt even know who the killer was until the last day of filiming.Written very smartly by Kevin Williamson, and Directed by Horror Master Wes Craven, Scream 2 is both a tribute and a spoof of sequels and should not be missed by any fans of the original or of horror in general.

Goddamn I love this movie. It's terrifying, it's hilarious....its everything you want in a movie.

That is, until the producers realise this and try to think up a way to piss people off. They did.

Randy dying kinda saddened me for most of the rest of the film. I blamed his death for not realising that the reporter was Billy's mum. Of course, there was absolutely no way to have known this ever, upon rewatching it. Thats what takes the two stars it needs to be a perfect thriller/horror.

However, Campbell manages to be a very strong heroine yet again. Dewey's one liners are amazing and instantly memorable. I can still recite his speech with Gale....my friends laugh. Full points to Arquette here. Cox is also good, but I've never been a big fan of bitches in movies. I wish Randy didn't die. The fact that they snapped up the original cast so soon for a sequel made for a good flow with storytelling. ie Sidney hasn't let her guard down but its only been a year so she's not really a paranoid psycho, and the fact that everyone left Dewey in Woodsboro for college or reporting or whateva....he sees them all for what seems like one of the first times after the original killings.

This is the sort of movie you can watch over and over. In fact, I have been for the last five years. There's always something new to point out...or laugh at like the sheer Simpson-esque explanation that Debbie Salt is Mrs Loomis.

So yes, 8 out of 10. Not quite as good as the original but a very inventive, intelligent and funny thriller/horror nonetheless

For a change , this sequel was just as good if not better than the first scream movie. Their are plot twists and the story is pretty good. There are also lots of jokes which are funny. Jamie Kennedy is pretty funny in the movie. David Arquette and Neve Cambell play their parts well. Courtney Cox Arquette is okay.

Scream 2

It has been two years since the tragic events at Woodsboro. Sidney Prescott and Randy Meeks are trying to get on with their lives, and are currently both students at Windsor College. Cotton Weary is out of prison, and is trying to cash in on his unfortunate incarceration. Gale Weathers has written a bestseller, "The Woodsboro Murders," which has been turned into the film, "Stab," starring Tori Spelling as Sidney. As the film's play date approaches, the cycle of death begins anew. Dewey Riley immediately flies out of Woodsboro to try to protect Sidney, his "surrogate sister." But in this sequel to the 1996 horror film, the number of suspects only goes down as the body count slowy goes up!

I figured I would be disappointed when I watched this movie, that it couldn't beat the orginal, but I think it by far beat the orginal. This movie have more suspense then the first one did, I picked up on the killers in the first movie, this one I figured one out, but the other was just unfiguringoutable, yeah you like that word dont you. Wes Craven is a man for horror movies, the third one does worry me about some of the stuff I have heard about it. I was mad that they killed off one of the characters I liked, oh well. Can't complain about the acting, except maybe some of the minor actors but they die before you know it so theres no need to worry about them. Jamie Kennedy I must give the honorable mention to, he was just great. Malibus Most Wanted is a different story, ok I havent seen it but dont intend to. David Arquette and Courtney Cox Arquette are great actors they did amazing. There was a couple of jokes mixed in about the show "Friends" because with Courtney is Monica from friends. Anyways if you haven't seen the first movie watch it then definately watch this one, the 3rd one your on your own, until I rent it which will be sometime soon.

So I rewatched the "Scream" trilogy. I love the first one the best. I love all the references to other horror movies. I love trying to catch the things I missed from before. This time I caught it when Stu is saying "As if, that's all I'm saying, as if" to Randy in reference to Randy hooking up with Sydney. Randy's response is then "Oh really Alicia?" which is referencing "Clueless". Kevin Williamson has this great art with words. He really knows what his target audience wants to hear. He has a unique way of wording things that works so well for what he's trying to convey. That is definately a man I want to see more things from in the future. Hopefully "Cursed" will be as good as his previous works, and the magic that was there for "Scream" will be there again for Wes and Kevin.

So the second one I love because of the message it sends. I think all three movies send a good message but the second is pretty much what I've been saying about violence and youth for a very long time. It's stems from the family. Now ok ok not all violence can be blamed on the parents and shit like that. I know some people are probably just born psychotic. And there are about a million other factors that play into it but a big one is definately the parents. I also love finding the cameos in this one. Matthew Lillard, Selma Blair, Rose McGowan, and Wes and Kevin of course.

"Scream 3" always lacked a bit to me. Randy (may favorite character) not in it but a small 2 minute roll. Not enough for me. Kevin didn't write it so there was another one of it's faults. But I still like the message it sends that in the end the decisions we make in life are our own. We may be influenced by things but ultimately they are our choices. Oh loved the cameos in this one too. The best is Jay and Silent Bob. Were they on the studio tour while they were looking for Suzanne?
