This movie just shows the discrimination that children on the autistic spectrum have to go through.

Being a keen observer of the art of movie making (mostly self observed and learned) I as a student of this genre was eager to see the product coming out of the stable of Aamir Khan -- the Director. His venture as Producer, in Lagaan -- did fetch him accolades worldwide, including the Oscar nomination. So would this next product also be so special?

The story is about a 8 year old boy Ishaan (Darsheel Safary) who finds it difficult to concentrate on his studies and finds innocent pleasures in the worldly things around him. This attitude of Ishaan makes him a centre of laugh and taunt that leads to his cranky and odd behavior. His parents decide to send Ishaan to boarding school to improve his studies. Being away from parents Ishaan goes into a shell and looses all interest in everything around him. There enters a drawing teacher Ram Nikubh (Aamir Khan) who recognizes Ishaan's state and takes it on himself to bring back life in the boy's life.

Aamir says that he worked with his friend, painter, writer, and Creative Director of the movie Amole Gupte for 3 years to make Taare Jameen Par. Credit to Aamir to take this simple, delicate and difficult subject in the first place and standing ovation for preciously presenting the simplicity of the story in the way it has to be presented. Aamir had with him all the star power and resources to hog the lime-light of the movie, but he renders himself to play a pivotal but side and supporting role. He gives the real burden of the movie on the tender shoulders of Ishaan, uff Darsheel -- a great search by the casting crew. Darsheel carries the movie along with him, and drags us into his world with such an ease that the moments of Ishaan will remain in-grained in our memories forever as twinkling starlights. Kudos to this young and gifted actor! Wow -- what a performance.

Similar credit to the master script and screenplay -- which is so strong in its narration, that it required somebody as sensitive as Aamir to produce and direct the movie. The story evolves slowly and sucks us into the movie. The background score and music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is superb. The lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are worth hearing and reciting.

I was thinking as a movie maker -- what would I have changed in TJP? I think, I would have surely added 5-7 minutes in the recovery phase of Ishaan with an added sub-plot event. I would had made the teachers less clich

"WOW" is all i can say. this movie is a must watch for peope of all ages. the kid (Darsheel Safary) is impeccable. can't believe this is his first movie. the pace of the movie is never too slow or too fast. the thoughts of an 8 year old is brought to life so spendidly on silver screen. even the small actions is so thoughtfully done. the movie definetly has its moments where it'll fill your eyes, it even has subtle comedy to make you laugh. probably one of the toughest subjects to direct, but aamir did a splendid job (thanks to the script). the music seems more meaningful and lovely after watching the movie (well !! it did to me). overall a well written, well acted and very well directed movie with a far reaching and more global storyline and finally a very meaningful cinema.

One of the best films to come out of Bollywood, either this year or ever. Completely original in picturization, no formulaic plot twists, and no dancing in the swiss alps. A touching story about a gifted child in his struggle to break free of social stigma in India associated with students who aren't "book-smart" and their inability to see a child's unique perspective of the world.

Excellent acting and direction. A must-watch!

Come to think of it, after two back-to-back hits , Aamir Khan could've given a positive nod to any masala flick and chosen to work with anyone he desired. But he preferred to make a film on a dyslexic kid, make him the focal point of the story and don three caps -- producer, actor and director.

At the very outset, let's make one thing clear. TAARE ZAMEEN PAR isn't one of those films that merely entertains, but also enlightens. TAARE ZAMEEN PAR is one film that makes you peep into a child's mind and how some parents, in their pursuit to make them 'stronger' academically, forget that there's hitherto untapped talent that needs to be nourished and encouraged.

TAARE ZAMEEN PAR drives home a strong message, making you empathize with the kid, compelling you to draw parallels with your life, making one realize that some of the renowned geniuses were once scoffed at, but the world had to bow down to their intellect later.

Sure, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR boasts of a story that strikes a chord, but most importantly, it has been treated with such sensitivity and maturity that you're left shell-shocked in amazement by the sheer impact it leaves at the end of this 18 reeler.

TAARE ZAMEEN PAR heralds the birth of a topnotch storyteller -- Aamir Khan. To choose a story that's a far cry from the mundane stuff that's being churned out like factory products, requires courage and conviction and to execute it with panache is a rarity.

Aamir is excellent. Note his scenes with the father of the kid. First, when he visits their home. Next time, when he cites the example of Solomon Islands. Splendid! Tisca Chopra is outstanding. Here's an actress who needs to be lapped up in a big way by film-makers.

Tanay Cheda is excellent. Vipin Sharma is slightly theatrical. Sachet Engineer is apt. The teachers have performed well.

On the whole, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR is an outstanding work of cinema. To miss it would be sacrilege. It has everything it takes to win awards and box-office rewards!

Do yourselves a favor. Watch TAARE ZAMEEN PAR with your child. It will change your world. It will also change the way you look at your kids!

A film that forces us into questioning our own way of bringing up children.... in this competitive world, we often push children into a defined mould, instead of seeing where they fit. And when they dont fit into that mould, we think they're lazy, uninterested, and we painfully force them to fit in....

a film that shows us for the first time how a dyslexic kid's mind works, in such a beautiful way... and shows us that truly, all children are special!!

Taare Zameen per....a brilliant directional debut by Aamir Khan. I truly enjoyed watching the movie. Must admit...my eyes manufactured a few buckets of tears through the movie..!! That kid in the movie Darsheel who plays a role of a dsylexic child I think deserves a best actor award for his performance. This movie I think reflects a changing trend in the Indian movie industry. Most hindi movies have a lead female actor singing or dancing away to glory in exotic locations. TZP was refreshingly different. The main chracter is a 10 yr old kid with big bunny teeth..!!
