Not enough can be said about how good this movie really is, and Eli Wallace's performance was a tour-de-force. I watched a recent version, and the quality was superb, perhaps the blue ray version given its clarity. Very grateful for the links, and I cannot recommend this movie enough.
Btw, although this was the last of the 3 in the so called "no-name" trilogy made, it is in fact the first to watch if you are concerned about. It takes place during civil war, and the other 2 are post war. Its in the course of this movie that Clint acquires his hat with the 2 bullet holes and his poncho (towards the end of the movie).
Simply a 10 in every respect.
When i was 9, i saw this at one of those single screen palaces, and to this day, for me it's the standard reference for every western made since.
Nobody does westerns like Sergio Leone, trust the Italian to nail it... His obsession with close-ups makes you sit still and just ogle. The music is perfect. And what seems slow moving to start with, all of a sudden makes sense, it just cannot be done any other way. Doesn’t matter how old this film gets, it’s still a mint film of epic proportions. 10/10
