The Hills Have Eyes 2 is another useless sequel of the far superior flick and another horror movie which is unnecessary. The original by Alexandre Aja was better in every way. The second installment is almost devoid of suspense, has usympathetic characters and numerous plot holes and improbabilities occur evey now and then. How the hell could a small bunch of mutants murder the whole unit of marines? This is the main question here which comes to mind frequently when you watch this movie. Instead of some political aspect which was present in the first installment, what we have here is a very standard gore which is only riveting in the last few minutes of the film. I even dissuade you from renting this misfire.

or... The Hills Still Have Eyes? Anyway, it's a Fangoria wet-dream with minimal subtext. Cast is pretty much forgettable (and obviously expendable).

actual - 6.8

Well let me first off start by saying that you could this movie wasnt made by the same director as the first one.I loved the first one.I thought it was excellent. This one on the other hand, I cant say the same.It was just really boring.I mean the first one just kept you on the edge of your seat. This was a movie that I was just wanting to get over. I just couldnt wait for it to get over. The story was ok, that wasnt the problem it was just boring and it dragged really bad.The whole movie was just a bunch of people walking around in the hills, and everytime somebody died you didnt even get to see it.BORING.Then when they got into the caves is when it got really done. I didnt like the fact that the mutants were watching everyone on computers. That was dumb, and how they had the hills built like a base.It was full of lights and guns.It was just really stupid, and cheesy.Didnt have the same feeling that the first one did. I wish they never would of given this back to Craven.Bottom line this movie sucks.

Rather decent sequel, it has some very chilling moments, is reasonably suspenseful, the acting is fine, starts out well and keeps up the fast pace throughout the film. The basic plot is nothing new, kind of an "Alien in the Desert" with zombies replacing the aliens. Quite watchable though.

I am on the few people who actually really enjoyed the first film from Aja. However, this one is absolutely pointless with zero interesting characters. I could care less what happened. The ending made me laugh.

Horror is still my favorite genre. I love a good scary movie. I love gore. I love violence, and I love it when people are killed in horrific and original ways. But all of this has to be married with a good story. Lately the horror genre has lost its luster and its ability to keep me interested in its story and with its characters. Now horror films think that if they just toss in a handful of neat deaths this is supposed to make up for the lacking story and stupid characters.

I hated Alexandre Aja's remake to The Hills Have Eyes, but mostly because of the stupid people that dwelled within the film. It is hard to care for a group of people getting slaughtered when they give you little to no reason to like them. I gave Martin Weisz unnecessary sequel a chance, like I do with all films. I figured with Wes Craven penning the screenplay, this film couldn't possibly be worst than Aja's dreadfully awful film.

Instead of a vacationing family we have a group of National Guard trainees going against the group of cannibalistic mutants. Only this time the mutants aren't just interested in good eats. They are looking for women to prolong their family tree. This leads to another vile scene involving a woman being attacked by one of the mutants and being sexually assaulted. I understand this is someone else's movie, but scenes like this don't sit well with me. It isn't that I don't think rape has any place to be shown on film, its just that in movies like this the rape is used to shock us. But it doesn't have that effect. Maybe if the film implied it more than showing it, this scene would have been more effective.

There is a fine line between showing enough and going overboard. The Hills Have Eyes 2 goes way overboard. No, it isn't the most violent film ever made. But it is one that uses its violence in all the wrong ways. In any good horror film the carnage is there to shock you, maybe even scare you. That is what horror films are meant for! But movies like this would rather have you in awe of the terrible things it does to its characters. Having you say "That was cool," or other things along that line.

The mutant inbred thing is getting really old. Sure, it worked out well in films way back when. But here in modern day cinema, these things are as predictable and un-scary as any slasher film villain. And how come these inbred people have a knack for killing people left and right, but when it comes down to the final cluster of heroes they seem to lose their skill?

The film adds some political talk here and there which bugs me. Not that I care about its political views, just that it makes the film trapped in this time period. A good horror film is one that is timeless. That any generation can watch and get the same experience out of it. But with all its Bush jokes and its references to our current war, The Hills Have Eyes 2 will most likely age faster than it should. And why do both films have the most liberal guy end up being the only guy with the guts and know-how to fight back with the mutants?

The Hills Have Eyes 2 is one of the worst films of 2007 and easily the worst horror film I've seen so far this year. There isn't anything good about this film. It wants to be shocking, but it is more ridiculous than thrilling. The characters are stupid and uninteresting, and the villains are more annoying than scary. About the only thing scary about this film is that the ending leaves itself open for another film. There is a scary thought
