Oh look, I fell off the boat...no wait, I'm back on it again. Bah, now a shark's attacking that guy, no wait, he's okay. Holy crap...our boat is going to sink...no wait, it's not. This is the only movie I have ever walked out of in theaters. I figured that a movie about a storm would suck *cough-twister-cough*...and it did.

Where to start with this one?
Well, it didn't have much of a story to build on from the get go. All that happened was that five fishermen died during a "perfect storm".
The writer realises there isn't much story so tries to make the tragedy even greater by making sure every character left something behind on shore.
But this is done in a too manipulating way. Every clich

This movie made me cry like i've never cried before. It's really dramatic and love that it's really real. The movie has a great plot to it, and great acting. I loved it can't say no more than that! I'll give it a perfect score of 10/10!!!

In The Perfect Storm , George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg once again bait the same hook, bringing in a catch big enough to keep but not quite large enough to mount on their wall.

Clooney plays Captain Billy Tyne, the respected leader of the fishing ship, The Andrea Gail. He has made a living on the open seas but hits a dry spot in the water when his ship doesn't bring enough fish home. Both he and his crew get less money than they normally would and the pressure rests on Tyne's shoulders to turn it around.

Bobby Shatford (Wahlberg) is hit particularly hard by the dry spell. He has recently gone through a divorce and is trying to start a new life with Christina Cotter (Diane Lane).

Two days after the crew's return to land, Tyne announces they will be leaving again in the morning for another attempt. Despite some disagreement at first, everyone boards the ship. The viewer knows at this point the ship will likely never return.

However, the people in the movie shouldn't have. Both the crew and their loved ones treat this trip as if they're going off to war. This is the life of a fisherman. They go catch fish. They get money. No fish, no money. It's almost as if they received a copy of the last two pages of the script and begged for it not to happen.

Though they saw it coming, apparently, the meteorologists didn't. The weathermen should have been able to warn them of the impending storm long before they left the harbor. Massive hurricanes don't just magically appear a few hundred miles off the coast.

On the bright side of the Storm , Clooney and Wahlberg show again they can make a great team. Three Kings was last year's best film despite the Oscar snub and, though The Perfect Storm doesn't live up to their previous performance, it certainly is a very entertaining movie.

If the movie was enjoyable, the actors and camera work made it that way. The actors blend well into their roles as fishermen, especially Clooney. The directors did a fine job of making the viewer feel as if he was actually there in the ship. It is very easy to get sucked in by this movie and not realize two hours have gone by. The Perfect Storm is not a perfect movie. If you're looking for the next Citizen Kane , keep waiting. However, if you're looking for an enjoyable night at the movies and simply want to get engrossed in action on the big screen, The Perfect Storm might be perfect for you. Rating: B

Tsuinami's news occupied large pages on newspapers and website and TV news! The range of damage is so wide and death reported more and more and the tidal wave must be the biggest in record!
How big? It remind me that I'd ordered "Time Express"(Time monthly magazine for Taiwan version) in year 2000, cinema column entitled "Unleashing A Storm" by Jess Cagle for discussing about Wolffgang Petersen's "the Perfect Storm".
That was Petersen's job, as in, wait a minute, that wave should be bigger. "You leatn all the science," says Fangmeier, "but we did break some of the scientific rules when it came to those Hollywood moments." If you've seen the trailer, you've already seen the film's most impressive Hollywood moment--the Andrea Gail's scaling a mountainous wave that threatens to fold her into its crest. "I said, 'Wolfgang, that's a wave. That's impossible, certainly not recorded in this storm,'" Fangmeier recalls. "So we did scale it down a little bit. A little bit."

There's a note printed in Chinese from Time editor's judged Hollywood studio and director indulging about making overstating special effect! For 60m wave is equal to 20 floors high, even special effect staffs thought the idea was too exaggerate!

But for those survivors, it's urgent to run for their life. They wouldn't think it's impossible for some of them had been water above their head!

I am STILL sniffling. I positively adore Mark Wahlberg. I just had to go and have another intense man vs. nature experience again didn't I? *Sigh*...
The Perfect Storm is about a fishing boat with a crew of five men including George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, and John C. Reilly (one of JyakAnorondak's favorite actors..he can keep him, I'll take Mark). They're super far out on the ocean trying to catch a boatfull of fish, only to have to turn around and drive back through this massive hurricane. The plot to this film is all starts b/c of the ice machine on their boat breaks. Doom and peril follow with their foolhardy attempt to save the fish from rotting--driving through the perfect storm.
