I am writing this review in 2013, which is 22 years from the production of this film. I read the screenplay of this film first. I was mesmarised by it. The screenplay was definitely Oscar material. It deserved the Oscar it won in every way. When I read the script I pictured the whole film in my mind. It was very well written and technicallly detailed. It is even better than today's shi*ty scripts. The script stands the test of the time. It has not grown old.
Anyhow when I saw the film it was not the film I had in my mind. But what can I say. Technology was 22 years old. They have done a pretty good job then. But if someone remake this film now it would so awesome. The film will become a hit. It has a really good phycological thrillar aspect. But the script is more into action thrillar genre. Slow motion, gunfires etc. I would love if somebody take an effort to recreate this epic film. We need it.

A classic that scares children, terrifies adults, and is superb to psychotic killers looking for ideas. Silence of the Lambs does a magnificant job putting us in the shoes of both an F.B.I. agent and a psychotic killer who has been locked up for years and it just edging to get back out. It deserved every Oscar it received.

Jordan here with another review.....

Dr Lecter, I wish to see you again. Though Dr Hannibal (the cannibal) Lecter had fifteen minutes of screen time throughout the entire film, he easily stole the show. I found that whenever Anthony Hopkins had even a small monologue, your attention was focused on screen the entire way. Though Dr Lecter was without a doubt the star of the show, Silence of the Lambs is easily the best thriller ever made.

Our story begins when Clarisse, an FBI trainee is charged with finding a ruthless killer who skins women, Buffalo Bill. However, the only way she can possibly find Buffalo Bill before he can strike again, is to ask for the aid of another serial killer Dr Hannibal Lecter. Perhaps the most interesting element of this film is the intellectual relationship between Clarisse and Hannibal Lecter. Even though Hannibal is a killer and cannibal, he seems to have standards with Clarisse. For instance, when the prisoner in the cell next to Hannibal starts cursing at Clarisse, Hannibal somehow finds it 'rude', and ends up talking him into killing himself later because of it.

As for set design, perhaps the best set in the entire movie would have to be Buffalo Bill's basement. There are no windows, it is gritty, dark and it give the audience the feeling of being 'trapped'. That highly contributes to the horror, you fell like no matter what you can't get out of there. Superb job.

Though the movie can get a little disturbing at times, it is a fantastic film for the horror/thriller fan. This movie uses psychological terror rather than just throwing a lot of gore in front of you. Much like Hitchcock films like 'Psycho', Silence of the Lambs uses the style of playing with your mind rather than trying to gross you out. For example, it is made clear in the film that Hannibal Lecter is a cannibal; though at no point in the movie do you really see him eat anyone (he bites the prison guard, but doesn't 'eat' him).

Overall a fantastic film, worthy of multiple viewings.
